More Maths, a Worksheet & a Tangent
Like many I can’t quite believe that we’re just about to start the summer holidays, a group of year 11’s have left us, SATS / GCSE’s / 11+ / entrance exams have all been taken, we’ll be meeting new students in September (or before?) … and my car has passed another MOT!
It’s been a great year, and a HUGE thank you to everyone who has made it possible.
Key Stage 2
Here’s some more tricky maths problems to work through:
- Harry and 5 of his friends went to see a new film at the cinema. They paid £54 in total
How much did each ticket cost? - A train is due to arrive at the station at 16.45. It is running 37 minutes late.
What time is the train expected to arrive? - Melons cost 72p. There is a ‘buy one, get one half price’ offer available.
How many melons can you buy with £8? - The journey to Aziz’s school is 7km. How far does Aziz travel in total when he walks to and from school, from Monday to Friday?
Key Stage 3
I must admit that it’s good to see students engaging with the 3minutemaths materials … and doubly good when they bring them to the centre to work on.
Here’s a worksheet that was seen at a recent class.
Key Stage 4
It’s been a little while since we looked at grade 8/9 questions … so, here’s a topic to try during the next few days.
Always pleased to help if you need any support.
Have a great week!

PS. And finally, the maths fact of the day:
1 x 8 + 1 = 9
12 x 8 + 2 = 98
123 x 8 + 3 = 987
1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876
12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765
123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654
1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543
12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432
123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321
PPS. I hope that you find the worksheets & video walkthroughs useful. To help the YouTube algorithm to decide whether to show the videos to others, it’s incredibly helpful if you are able to ‘like’ on the channel … assuming, of course, that you do … er ‘like’:
